PFRA denies media reports of new agreement for Edinburgh

18/04/11

Contrary to media reports today (Monday 18 April), the PFRA has not signed an agreement with Essential Edinburgh nor agreed any ‘new rules’ about how fundraisers may operate.

The PFRA is currently negotiating a site management agreement – of the type we currently have with 40 councils in England and Wales – with Essential Edinburgh setting out where and when charities may operate. The negotiations are progressing well and we hope to have a formal agreement in place soon.

However, we have not signed a new ‘code of conduct’, as media reports claim. The ‘new rules’ claimed to be introduced in this code of conduct are already contained in the Institute of Fundraising’s code of practice or relevant legislation, so no ‘new’ rules are required.
